School curriculum

Our bilingual curriculum is a uniquely designed concept, correlating successfully the Romanian curriculum with the international one. It is based on a combination of cognitive, developmental and informal teaching styles. These instructional methods utilize fun and creativity to foster a love of learning, an attitude of inquiry and discovery and a sense of confidence in the child’s ability to master new tasks and situations. The eight characteristics that underpin the shape and delivery of our curriculum are:

Challenge and Enjoyment

Young learners should find their learning challenging, engaging and motivating. The curriculum should encourage high aspirations for all. At all stages, learners of all aptitudes and abilities experience an appropriate level of challenge, enabling individuals to achieve their potential. They are active in their learning and have opportunities to develop and demonstrate their creativity. There should be support to enable young people to sustain their effort.

Breadth – variety

All young people have opportunities for a broad, suitably weighted range of experiences. The curriculum is organised so they will learn and develop through a variety of contexts within both the classroom and other aspects of school life.

Young learners experience continuous progression in their learning within a single curricular framework. Each stage is built upon earlier knowledge and achievements. They are able to progress at a rate which meets their needs and aptitudes.

Young learners have opportunities to develop their capacity for different types of learning.  As they progress, they develop and apply increasing thinking skills, drawing different strands of learning together and exploring and achieving more advanced levels of understanding.

Personalisation and Choice – differentiated

The Questfield curriculum responds to individual needs and supports particular aptitudes and talents.  It gives each young learner increasing opportunities for exercising choice of experiences.

Taken as a whole, children’s learning activities combine to form a coherent experience. There are clear links between the different aspects of young children’s learning, including opportunities for extended activities which draw different strands of learning together.

All curricular areas of development are delivered through a balance of adult led and child initiated activities.
The Questfield curriculum also provides clear balance between syllabus-time, clubs (art & sport-related) & out-of-school learning experiences to contribute to the well-rounded personal development of the Questfield learner profile.

Young learners come to understand the purposes of their activities. They come to see the value of what they are learning and its relevance to their lives, present and future.
