The education I believe in is a process where the teacher is a facilitator, an enabler, a path between the child and the environment. The less guided the interaction, the more successful the learning experience. I see children and class teachers as partners, working together towards gaining more insight into the surrounding world, while improving the native intelligence they possess, be it linguistic, mathematic, intra- or inter-personal. Introducing children to the world of books gives them entry to not one, but many worlds. It can introduce children to different life experiences, to other countries and cultures. Giving children access to the breadth of human experience is terribly important at this tender age when children are constantly revising and reforming their views of the world.
