Preschool Teaching Assistant
I enjoy singing nursery rhymes and reading books with the children, noticing that they love to hear stories again and again. Part of the satisfaction is the excited anticipation about what is going to happen next, mixed with the confidence and security of having heard it many times before. Having a bank of well loved stories is a sound basis for personal and intellectual development. From this secure base of knowledge and confidence, stories can be extended in a number of ways to help children make sense of their world, to develop language, to engage with literacy and to encourage imagination.
