Job Description

Job Title: Primary teaching Assistant

Reporting to: Class Teacher

Main areas of responsibility:

  • Teaching and learning
  • Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the class teachers and Head of Primary
  • Supervise and provide particular support for students, or groups of students, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
  • Undertake structured and agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities according to pupil responses
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs
  • Undertake planned and unplanned cover in the short-term absence of teachers in all curriculum areas
  • Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher
  • To undertake duties as directed
  • Administrative duties
  • Support teachers in preparation and production of classroom materials
  • Ensure that all class materials and equipment are in good, safe working order and stored safely and securely
  • Assist teachers with maintaining student records
  • Assist teachers preparing and presenting displays of students’ work both in the classroom and surrounding areas
  • Assist with the planning and organising of class trips
  • Assist with examination administration if required
  • Assist and provide support to faculty leader and teachers with student data analysis
  • Attend departmental meetings when required
  • Other Duties
  • To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection (GDPR) and associated guidelines where appropriate.
  • Observe all Questfield practices relating to child protection, security, fire and emergency and Health and Safety.
  • To understand and comply with all other relevant school policies.
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, commensurate with the level of responsibilities of the post.
  • Participate in in-service training as appropriate to role

Training & Health and Safety:

  • Take part in the Health and Safety trainings.

Conduct:

  • Commit to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and staff within the school;
  • Maintain confidentiality, in accordance with Questfield’s contractual requirements;
  • Be of smart appearance, appropriate to the role and use appropriate language;
