Romanian Line

Preparation class + Grade 1–4

Your child follows the full Romanian national curriculum (MEN), taught in Romanian, in a modern and internationally-minded school. Our extended English programme builds strong bilingual foundations alongside the Romanian curriculum.

This is a proper Romanian education with the individual attention, Questfield’s four pillars, and the option to transition to the international line later.

International Line

Your child follows the national curriculum for England. GL assessments measure progress against international standards – and Questfield students consistently score above international averages.

Romanian line

Strong Romanian foundation with English as a second language.

International line

Cambridge pathway with English as main language + Romanian as a third language.

The transition pathway: Many families start on the Romanian line and transition to the International line at Grade 5 (Year 7), which is the first year of Cambridge Lower Secondary. By that point, your child’s Romanian is strong, their English is developed, and the transition is natural.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Romanian and International lines?

They are two separate programmes. On the Romanian line your child follows the national (MEN) curriculum, taught in Romanian, with 7 hours of English a week. On the international line they follow the British curriculum, taught in English, with 7 hours of Romanian a week. Your child is on one line at a time, not both at once.

Can my child switch lines later?

Yes. Many of our families start on the Romanian line and move to the international one around Grade 5–6. By then their Romanian is solid, so the change feels natural rather than abrupt.

How many hours of English / Romanian does each line get?

On the Romanian line your child has 7 hours of English a week. On the international line they have 7 hours of Romanian a week. That’s far more than the roughly 2 hours you’ll find at most other international schools; and is exactly how our international children stay genuinely bilingual.

What are Cambridge Checkpoints?

They are international assessments taken on the British pathway that show how your child is doing compared with students around the world. Our October 2024 group scored well above the international average: e.g., 44 out of 50 in English, against an average of 25.
